'At' is a preposition of time and place.
I go home at eight o'clock. Tony works at a sandwich shop. 'Next to' is a preposition of place. It indicates proximity. Michael sits next to Luis. 'In front of' is also a preposition of place and indicates frontal proximity. The post office is in front of the bank. 'Behind' is a preposition of place and indicates rear proximity. The parking lot is behind the store. 'Between' is a preposition of place and means "in the middle of." Eva sat between two people. 'Through' is a preposition of direction and indicates going from one end to the other. Tony drove through the tunnel. 'On' is a preposition of place and indicates above or in a specific place. That store is on Main Street. |
