Episode 10 Part 2
The street vendors are packing up for the day, except for Tshombe, who continues to sell lemonade. Silvia and Bob walk up to Tshombe. SILVIA: Bye, Tshombe. See you tomorrow. TSHOMBE: Bye, bye. Jose calls out. JOSE: Hey, Tshombe it's time to go. We're only allowed to be here until 5 O'clock. TSHOMBE: Joe, I need to be here much later than usual. I have to work many extra hours to make the money I owe the IRS. Today, I had a slow day. Only a few customers. JOSE: What if the police come and give you a ticket? It may not be worth it. TSHOMBE: I have no choice. JOSE: How much money do you owe? TSHOMBE: A lot of money. JOSE: How much? TSHOMBE: Too much for me! 850 dollars. JOSE: Wow. You do owe a lot of money. You'll need to work a lot of extra hours. TSHOMBE: Yes, I know. But I think I can do it. A few good days will help. JOSE: Well, with a little luck, you'll make it. TSHOMBE: Thank you. In a pair of high heel shoes, Mrs. Vargas sashays down the street. She pauses at Tshombe's stand. Tshombe expects to be scolded about his lemonade cart being in front of her store again. MRS. VARGAS: (sly smile) Hello boys. TSHOMBE: Good afternoon, Mrs. Vargas. MRS. VARGAS: It's a beautiful day today, isn't it? Both Jose and Tshombe look confused. They're not used to Mrs. Vargas being pleasant. TSHOMBE: Yes, it is. (gaining confidence) Would you like some lemonade? MRS. VARGAS: Oh, no. No, thank you. I don't want any. She turns and walks toward her store. Tshombe and Jose watch as she goes into her store. TSHOMBE: I told you she was a nice person. JOSE: (concerned) Tshombe, did you really listen to her? TSHOMBE: What? JOSE: The way she spoke. TSHOMBE: What about it? JOSE: (overly excited) It's the same voice doctor's use when they talk to patients that are doomed. It's the same voice Generals use when they send their men off to certain death. TSHOMBE: Nooooo. JOSE: Yes. I don't trust her. Not even (holding his fingers together) this much. TSHOMBE: Nooooo. JOSE: Yessss. (He sees something.) Uhh-ohh... TSHOMBE: What? Tshombe turns to see a POLICE OFFICER approaching. JOSE (CONTINUED): Hurry up and pack. TSHOMBE: Why? JOSE: It's the police.
