Episode 8 Part 2
Max is sound asleep. Karina wakes him up. KARINA: Come on, Max. It is time to get up. Karina turns on the water in the shower. Steam fills the bathroom. She steps in the shower, puts her head under for a glorious moment until --She jumps back with a SQUEAL. The water has gone ice cold. KARINA: I can't believe it. Karina, in her bathrobe, hair still wet, stands outside Lyle's apartment talking to LYLE himself. KARINA: The water is still cold. That is the third time it's happened. LYLE: Nobody else is complaining. You sure the water wasn't hot? KARINA: Yes, I am sure the water wasn't hot! I think I know when water is hot and when water is not hot! LYLE: Alright, alright. I'll take a look at it later. KARINA: When? LYLE: I'll get to it when I get to it. I have a lot of other things to do. KARINA: Fine! And before she can stop him, he closes the door in her face. Victor, lying in bed, well-rested, yawns and stretches like a sleepy lion - RUMPLING THE SHEETS impressively. He gets out of bed. Karina, still in her bathrobe, fixes breakfast. She fills a teapot with water, lights the stove, and puts it on. She takes out the tea, mugs, and sets them on the counter. Then she takes out the boxed cereal, bowls, silverware, milk, and sets the table. Victor looks for clothes in a dresser drawer with Max next to him. The ones he doesn't want he TOSSES OVER HIS HEAD. VICTOR: Oh. This one? Oh. This one. No. This one? Karina passes the bedroom, into which Victor has just entered. Karina enters. KARINA: Victor, what are you doing? You're making a mess. Max, please go get dressed. VICTOR: This one? KARINA: Why do I always have to fold your clothes? Max goes to his room. The bed is a mess and Victor's clothes are on the floor. Max, at his little dresser, TOSSES THE CLOTHES HE DOESN'T WANT OVER HIS HEAD ala Victor. MAX: This one, no. These ones no. This one, no. Karina rushes in. KARINA: Ay! Max! What are you doing? MAX: This one's no. This one's no. I'm getting dressed. KARINA: (picking up his clothes) Max, pick up your clothes. Victor, looking showered and refreshed, WHISTLING, finally exits the bedroom. He approaches Karina and gives her a kiss on the forehead. VICTOR: Have a good day. KARINA: What about breakfast? I made you breakfast. VICTOR: Oh. I'm having breakfast with Nicolai. I'll see you later. He exits, leaving Karina on the verge of a scream. Karina dragging a recalcitrant Max. Victor eating breakfast with Vladimir, having a great time. Karina teaching dance class to a group of clumsy men. Karina exiting a grocery store carrying FOUR HEAVY BAGS. Karina, at the apartment, taking the laundry from the hamper, putting it in a basket, and carrying the heavy basket out the door. Karina PICKING UP various toys and VACUUMING the rug. Victor, PICKING UP CHESS PIECES out of a box on the floor. He sets them up as he and a FRIEND get ready to play. Karina preparing dinner, exhausted. Victor enters. The place is spotless. Dinner is on the table. His beautiful wife is asleep on the couch, laundry folded neatly in the nearby basket. Victor smiles. Life is good. Karina wakes up. VICTOR: (sing song) Hello. KARINA: (weary) Oh. Hi. VICTOR: How is my beautiful wife? KARINA: Tired. VICTOR: Ah. Why? KARINA: Why?! I do a lot of work, Victor. VICTOR: Ah. What do you do? KARINA: What do I do? (getting more annoyed) What do I do?! Karina gets up in a huff. Victor looks at her confused. KARINA (CONTINUED): Hmmm. Let's see...what do I do?! I get up, I take care of Max. I make breakfast. I make the bed. I do the dishes. I take Max to Mother's. I go to work! I do the shopping! I do the laundry! I do the cleaning! I get Max from mother's! I make dinner! That's why your beautiful wife is so tired! VICTOR: But that's what women do. They make dinner. They clean the house. They take care of children. Karina is so mad she is absolutely speechless. KARINA: Ohhh! Victor, totally clueless. Karina has slammed the bedroom door so hard the earth shakes. VICTOR: Wait. What's for dinner?
