Fuming, Alejandro wipes up a table. Elsi is with him. ELSI: I'm sorry, Alejandro. ALEJANDRO: I can't believe it! This isn't right Reza approaches. REZA: We need to start a revolution! ALEJANDRO: (defeated) I need to get out of here. ELSI: You have to make your computer certificate work for you. REZA: Yeah! ALEJANDRO: What good is it? There's nothing I can do. ELSI: Yes, there is! You can go out and find a new job! ALEJANDRO: How? I don't have a rich uncle! ELSI: There are many ways to find a new job! Alejandro begins to listen intently. ELSI (CONTINUED): For example, you can go to a job agency and see a job counselor. Job counselors help many people find a new job! In the meantime, Reza has spotted something outside the window. ELSI: ...or you can look in the newspaper. There are a lot of jobs listed in the classified ads... REZA: Hey! (Reza is still vying for their attention) ELSI: (ignoring Reza)...or you can tell your family and friends you're looking for a job. Reza is still looking out the window REZA: You guys... LOOK! Across the street is LOZANO'S RESTAURANT. There's a HELP WANTED sign on the door which says, "ASSISTANT MANAGER NEEDED." ALEJANDRO: Assistant Manager needed. ELSI: And sometimes you have to look for "Help Wanted" signs! REZA: Go on, Alejandro. What are you waiting for? ALEJANDRO: But, that's the competition! Mr. Miller will be angry. ELSI: There's no time like the present. REZA: Be confident, my comrade! ALEJANDRO: But... ELSI: Don't worry. We'll cover for you! just go get your jacket. REZA: Come on, Alejandro, you can do it! Alejandro looks back at his friends for encouragement. Then a look of resolve, a sort of "I'm going to do this" expression, spreads over his face. He heads out the door. Elsi and Reza watch. ALEJANDRO Where's my jacket... Alejandro exits Cosmo's. Crosses the street. Alejandro walks up to LOZANO'S, takes another look at the sign. He hesitates, takes a deep breath, then enters. Alejandro enters timidly. It's an impressive restaurant. The STAFF is setting up for the day. Alejandro notices an important-looking woman, MS. GILMORE, giving orders. Suddenly, she, the HOST, and the OTHERS notice Alejandro. They all seem to stop and look at him. Alejandro is on center stage and it's intimidating! MS. GILMORE: Hello, may I help you? ALEJANDRO: Hi, Um...Are you still looking for an assistant manager? MS. GILMORE: Oh, yes we are. Are you here to apply for the position? ALEJANDRO Well, I, uh, uh, uh... Alejandro can't speak. They all stare at him, waiting. He swallows, starts to muster up something, but... WIZARD: And.... Freeze.
